Dean Kopp

KEWANEE — Dean E. Kopp, 81, of Kewanee died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018, at his home.

Dean was born April 19, 1937, in Kewanee, the son of Frank E. and Laura (Vandenberg) Kopp. Dean married Judith Westervelt on July 21, 1957, at the Buda Methodist Church. She survives.

Dean was a truck driver for US Ecology in Sheffield. Dean was a Ryder driver of the year and the regional driver of the year twice. He enjoyed doing yardwork. He loved steam trains, airplanes and attending air shows.

Dean loved cats, especially his cat, Tish. He especially loved attending kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. Dean belonged to the First Presbyterian Church in Kewanee.

Also surviving are three children, Fred (Deb) Kopp, Dena (Brent) Huber and Brenda Kopp, all of Kewanee; six grandchildren, Matt (Jill) Huber, Mandy (Tia Thompson) Huber, Malerie (Chad) Schmidt, Lorelei (Greg) Ohlson, Brandon (Tricia Galli) Kopp and Joshua Kopp; and four great-grandchildren, Jaton, Paxon, Madon and Bentley, and another on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Terry Kopp.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Craig officiating. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery in Neponset.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Kewanee Rescue Unit or the Kewanee Humane Society.
