BCGS will host Abraham Lincoln speaker

PRINCETON — When the Bureau County Genealogical Society convenes for its regular meeting on Thursday, Feb. 22, the program will be given by Bill Kemp.

Kemp is the librarian and co-curator from the McLean County History Museum. He has been favorably received here in the recent past speaking on another topic. This time his program will be "The 'Lost Speech' Found." The public is invited to attend this free program, which will be presented at the BCGS library at 629 S. Main St. in Princeton. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

On May 29, 1856, Lincoln delivered what has become known as the "Lost Speech." Participants will learn about Lincoln's role in the founding of the new Republican Party and the significance of the Lost Speech.
