Pigskin Previews (Week 4)

Kewanee (0-0, 1-2) at Hall (1-2, 1-0)

BCR insider: The Boilers return to Nesti Stadium, the scene of their 35-28 win over the Red Devils in Week 6. Hall would go on to lo lose their final three games in 2016 and first two this year before snapping their 12-game skid at Princeton last week in a big way. The Red Devils head home, looking to start a streak in the other direction. ... The Boilermakers bring back 10 lettermen and 10 five starters on offense and six on defense from last year’s 4A playoff qualifier. They seek their first back-to-back playoff appearance since 1998-99. Deshawn Mabalcon has rushed for 288 yards and two TDs while quarterback Jeremy Burhorn has passed for 86 yards with one TD.

Last week: Kewanee lost to Morrison 41-27; Hall beat Princeton 48-8.

Last year: Kewanee 35-28.

All-time series: Hall 25-10 since 1981.

Radio: WAJK 99.3 FM.

Princeton (0-3, 0-1) at Sherrard (0-3, 0-1)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. Friday.

BCR insider: Something’s got to give in this tangle of Tigers Friday, both come in looking for their first win of the season. PHS has had a much rougher go, losing to Hall 48-8 last week and Newman 46-0 the week before. Sherrard played a much closer game against St. Bede while also falling victim of a shutout (42-0 to Orion) in Week 2. PHS coach Ryan Pearson said the biggest key for the Tigers is taking care of their own business. “If we take care of the little fundamental things that were lacking right now, we give ourselves an opportunity to be successful. Penalties, turnovers, missed assignments and poor tackling have been our Achilles heel over the first three weeks. This has really been our focus at practice this week.” PHS should get a boost from the return of freshman Ronde Worrels from a Week 2 injury, though Pearson is not sure how much of a role he will play.

Last week: PHS lost to Hall 48-8; Sherrard lost to St. Bede 28-12.

Last year: PHS 26-20.

All-time series: Tied 3-3.

Radio: WZOE 1490 AM.

St. Bede (1-2, 1-0) at Erie-P’town (0-3, 0-1)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. Friday at Erie

BCR insider: The Bruins gained their first win of the year in TRAC Mississippi play over Kewanee last week and will look to keep the ball rolling. Ben Bernabei led the way with three touchdowns. SBA coach Jim Eustice said the Panthers are a “very good 0-3 team,” having played three tough opponents. “They are very big and physical. They will give us their best shot trying to get their first win,” Eustice said.

Last week: EP lost to Monmouth-Roseville 27-7; St. Bede beat Sherrard 28-12.

Last year: SBA 56-7

All-time series: SBA 13-1.

Radio: WSOG 88.1 FM.

Bureau Valley (2-1) at

Monmouth-Roseville (1-2, 1-0)

Game time: 7 p.m. Friday.

BCR insider: The Storm and Titans meet for the first time in a TRAC crossover game. Mon-Rose joined the Three Rivers this year, taking over the vacated spot created by Amboy-LaMoille’s departure in 2016. BV will be on the rebound from a resounding 48-8 loss to Fulton last week. BV coach Joe Schmitt is confident the Storm will respond well, adding the Titans will be a great challenge with unique size upfront. “Our kids and coaches are looking forward to a great week of practice and getting better each day. The Fulton game was very humbling but are we are ready to take a major step forward,” Schmitt said. ... There is no sophomore prelim so this game will start at 7 p.m. sharp.

Last week: BV lost to Fulton 48-8; M-R beat E-P 27-6.

All-time series: First meeting.

Radio: WZOE 98.1 FM.

Pecatonica (0-3, 0-3)

at Amboy/LaMoille (0-3, 0-2)
